knitting patterns and yarn

I love this photo! I have so enjoyed knitting the ruffled scarf pattern, the free pattern in my October 8, 2011, blog post Ruffled Scarf Pattern for Fall. I knitted five, three for Christmas gifts. What fun! I have also made hats to go with two of them. The gift hat and scarf are show above. (Isn’t the delight of the recipient the best part of making gifts?!) The hat pattern is from Knit with Deborah Norville.

I have made the ruffled scarf using both worsted weight yarn and sport weight yarn.  Since I live in Texas, I prefer the sport weight yarn which is an ideal weight for most of the fall and winter season here. In the photo above, I used sport weight yarn for the scarf and worsted weight yarn for the hat. Both are made with tweed yarns by I Love This Yarn, one skein for each piece.

I have also made the wonderful baby blanket from the pattern in Knit with Deborah Norville. The book has patterns for the whole family – afghan, hoodie, socks, sweaters, baby clothing, totes, animals, and more. For more information about the book click here. No doubt you will love the patterns!
